The design process for both Bridal and Dreaming in Color is a true source of creative joy for us here at Michael M. Usually it all begins with a sketch. Even a sketch on a cocktail napkin while at a restaurant counts! But once the sketch is complete we must rely on some technological components to truly bring the jewelry to life.
Once a pencil sketch of a piece is approved, the next step in the process is a CAD rendering. A CAD rendering is an architectural 3-D visual produced on a computer that guides the production of each piece. From there, we move to diamond selection (which involves careful scrutiny, measuring and sorting), wax molds and hands-on craftsmanship.
To illustrate just how integral the computer rendering aspect of the process is in guiding scale and dimension, our newest flower ring is shown below, first as a CAD rendering and ultimately as the finished product. Clearly you can see how we get from A to B, with this nifty tool!
